Mix Tape

Another challenging electronic day !!
I went to the studio knowing that the crazy storm last night more than likely affected my wireless signal with the studio upstairs. So I roll in, once again eager beaver ready to get to work, and fuse is not fixed, computer is down, and I am not feelin it.....

So I go downtown to get the adresses for the post I need, get some fabric, almost get hit by some tourist, jump into the alley and dart back up the hill to my quiet oasis. As I am walking back up the huge hill to the studio, I realize I could have taken the packages with me downtown, avoided this walk and just gone to the post office.

So I get the packages go all the way back downtown, and the post office door wont open!!

The workers are yelling at me to use the other door around side the building. I go around, miss the posted sign saying they cannot accept any transactions and look up.
Grant my favorite posty is there. He tells me that they are replacing the computers an I shoud come back at 4

Ok this sucks.
So I went home and took pictures of my new stuff. here it is

Breakers and Thunder

The weather here in Nelson has been crazy, thunder, lightening, rain, but 29-30 degrees. HOT and MUGGY!
I went to my studio today feeling fresh, rested, well loved and generally stoked to get down to it.
I put on Mars Volta and charged up! I put emulsion on my screens , and put a space heater in the closet to dry the screens faster, went about cutting and printing a new dress. I plugged in my iron and a huge snap, boom occured right as the thunder let it lungs sing! Ok.....

With great preperation and distress that it is sunday and nobody is here in the building but me ,I flicked the breaker.
It almost fell out of the box, seriously!!
I got so scared that I would start a fire!.

Here I lam sitting wondering what the "+*?% to do!!

I looked closer and the one i had flipped was on but another off right beside it.
OK DONE!! I walked away, plugged in my iron, sewing machine on my other
desk and kept on working.
But I did take some new shots of the new studio as we are settling in.
Lady Bubzee came for a screenprinting date and left us some lovely
premanent art for the Nu Haus Studio, which was
such a honor, I love her paintings!

I also wanted to show how adorable and lovely my two children are.
Io is 12 and Osi is 2, she is a rare orange female.
Look at them, just look.........

am glad I did, the light was so wonderful.
Tonight, like right freeking now is a total solar eclipse.Sounds great right...Well this has not happened in about 4000 years. Seems like very auspicious times.I am keeping my head down and keepin' on sewing. I don't want to anger the gods!!! LOL!!
I am a bit sassy right now, a bit partched and planning to go jump in the lake at 7:15 when the eclipse is happening
A little energetical cleansing!!!

Return of Saturn

Ahhh the return of saturn.... In most astology around the world it has been noted that Saturn takes about 28-29 years to do a full rotation. This means when you were born you have a individual saturn sign, and thirty years from there it will revistit, and 30 years from then it will revisit again and so on.
When Saturn comes back around in your birth sign, it is the culmination of your first life phase, things should start to become challenging, and harder to attain. pushing us to work harder, and perservere. It is a very exiting time of shedding and reforming . It is also a time when everything is tested and quizzed for it's meaning, use and relevance in your life.

SO.........I am smack dab in the middle of mine. My Saturn sign is Virgo. The calculating, and mercurial hawk eye of Virgo.
Virgo has a insane attention, to method, function, order, hard work, organization, meticulousness, and painstaking streamlining.
These are some of my good and bad qualities!!! I am pretty stringent with detail, but have a huge creative tether to spin around in, hence the rest of my gemini saturated chart!!!
Saturn's return is also about refining what you want in life, relationships, home and spirit.
This is very prevalent in my everyday life....

I keep getting this feeling like it is the calm before the storm.
My husband [ amazing musician and actor, total historian ] and I will be shaking everything up and moving our lives forward, and more than likely away from ol' Nelson
In Nelson forward means either buying land or moving to the city, or just away....
We both need feel a bit stifled being 9 hours away from Vancouver and 10 hours from Calgary. There is very little supplies and my imagination is much bigger than the art store here, and the dumpsters are locked up.
I just think it is time to spread our wings again.

What is great about the situation is my husband and I are really FREE! We chose not to have kids 8 years ago and have never looked back, we are both musicians and artist, but with quote mature tendancies {earl greay tea, rocking chair, book} but
we just realized we are still young and are not settling down here jusy yet!!!
It is all very exiting and frustrating!!

I woke up this morning daydreaming of the new era coming!!! Etsy is maintaining their site right now so I cannnot go on,
So I am going to water my garden!!
HEARTSY!!

Long Days

My freckled white skinned was scorched at the market yesterday!!.I am not thrilled about this.....
The Nelson Markets kind of bust with their new crappy location. We were there for 6 hours and I swear only 50 people came, and they were all driving to the Eco society Market, HMMMM>>>>>>
Any way I won't be doing these markets any more, because I feel I can sell better on my own, and people in Nelson just want plain green pixie elf t shirts anyway!!!!!
The new schedule is designing and drafting fall and winter stuff!! Ya my favorite design season.
This year will be epic for HUGE cowl necklines, hoodies and hoodie dresses, as well as jackets and blazers.......

respect for my elders

Nelson Bc is the most unique place I have ever lived. She is filled with gypsies, ragamuffins, no wave/new wave hip-stars, musicians, painters, designers etc, you get the picture....
Amongst these folks are people of all ages. We connect with our elders here more than other places I have lived.
We can sit and talk normally about what we are interested in and there is no judgments or critisisms, there might be a opinionated soundscape layed out, but no fear of judgment.
One of these fellows stuck out to me. His name was Richard Carver. He died last week and it is hitting me more every day.
When I had my boutique Seams Local Art Haus, Richard was a proud supporter of all our events, sales, fashion shows, art openings. Note he also kept alot of us eating thru the winter.
Richard had his own Art Show at my studio back in the day. The crowd was wonderful,we drank wine and he drank orange juice, we played Banjo's and Flutes, he laughed alot and sat outside while we sang into the alley night.
He had the thickest british accent, patchwork hat, socks pulled up with loafers, and his wolf dog Che by his side always.
I miss him.... He was a ball to chat with since he had travelled so much, was an artist himself, ran a radio show, and was Nelson's true street critic. I just loved how sure he was of his taste in life.
We will all miss him dearly, and he really has inspired me to create even when I am feeling crusty.
Richards peices never made a whole lot of sense to me. There is the one that I can think of was a tribute to Zimbabwe
it had garbage stuck to corrogated cardboard with telephone wires and love letter post cards, I just remember the crest toothpaste tube hanging there bu a telephone wire. Thats rad. Richard I luv Ya...

FASHION SHOW

I am sooo tired as my husband would say ty-rod!
I had such a lovely time at the 2nd Annual Day to Night Fashion show at The Factory Studios
The Factory is a collective studio of many artist of all trades working in the old Jam Factory downtown Nelson.
They have just recently opened a large store on the main drag away from the original studios and are now offering more studios and the store. COOL!
They put on their 2nd Annual Day to Night Fashion Show featuring 12 local designers. Sometimes Nelson actually surprises me.We are a town of only 10,000 people but I could name od at least 20 designers.
So in the Day show we had:
Myself -Elysium Design
Gemma Luna- Anomaly
Day styles influenced by dance and elegance
Rabbit and Empee
Global Nomads
Lauren-Loo Loo
Eclectic 80's wear. My favorite of the show
Gennessa-Gennessa designs
Bad ass Bathing suits
Hannah-Nature Collective
Couture moss dresses was rad
Becky- Sew Delicious
Elven forest day wear and kids
Kat-Magnolia Project
Hand dyed modern street wear. HOT dresses!
I didn't get as many picture as I would have liked.
But heres what I jammed in
